SEASONAL DISTRIBUTION OF BIRTH OF KOREAN PEOPLE


Abstract
1. Birth months were investigated from urban, rural, coastal, and island regions.
2. The subjects were 127,026 pupils from the 141 primary schools of the above regions.
3. In an urban area, the City of Seoul, February shows the highest birth record and in rural districts, Poun and Muju, March shows the highest birth. record. In an island ergion, Kadok Island, June shows the highest birth record for both boys and girls.
4. According to seasonal statistics, winter is the highest birth season in urban and rural areas and in coastal and island regions the highest birth seasons are cistributed to to spring, summer, the sea and autumn. It is presumed that it has some borrelation with the profession of fishing as the fishermen work on leaving their homes for periods of more than a month.
